The Xbox Series X and Series S are the successors to the Xbox One and, along with the Playstation 5 (PS5) , are among the most sought-after new games consoles among children and young people.
The Xbox is a game console from Microsoft. The two newest models are called Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Series X is equipped with the latest technology and high-quality hardware and is therefore more expensive. The smaller and more compact Series S, on the other hand, is cheaper. Both versions come with one controller each. The Xbox Series X and S can also be played with the Xbox One controller. So, unless you already own an older controller or buy one to go with it, it can only be played alone.
The Xbox Series X is more expensive overall than other consoles, e.g. the
Nintendo Switch
but slightly cheaper than the Playstation 5(PS5). In return, it offers, similar to the
Playstation 5
It is very fast and designed for gaming in 4K resolution. Many games from the predecessor consoles can still be played on the Xbox Series X and S.
The Xbox Series X can be connected to the home WLAN. With a monthly subscription, the “Game Pass”, it is possible to regularly download new games and play online together with other gamers. A “Game Pass” is also available for the cheaper Series S model.
The Xbox Series X hasalready been available since the end of 2020, but it always sells out very quickly.
Some games are only available on Xbox (e. g. B. the Halo series or Microsoft Flight Simulator). These exclusive games make the Xbox attractive for gamers. Most important to young female gamers, however, are usually the technical features and the fact that the Xbox Series X is so new and desirable.
As with the PS5, there are many games for the Xbox that are not suitable for children and teenagers, such as many first-person shooters. Some games also include the possibility to buy game content (e.g. items or weapons) with so-called in-game purchases.
There will be special settings in the Xbox Family Settings app that allow you to childproof the console. To do this, you must first create an Xbox family group. You can then use this account to create an account for your child and make settings. You can set time limits, restrictions on certain content and other settings. The Xbox Series X is designed for 4K HDR TVs. So when connected to older TVs, it can never be used at full power. The predecessor Xbox One or the new Xbox Series S also have a very good quality and offer a great gaming experience. Just about any game can be played on both consoles. Consider whether it has to be the latest console.
It also makes sense to restrict the game content according to the respective age ratings. Take advantage of youth protection options and discuss them with your child.
Try to take an interest in your child’s play worlds, accompany them as much as possible while they play, and be there if they experience anything unpleasant while playing. Fixed rules for game times and game content make everyday family life easier.
